You are welcome to the world of Narayan Medical College & Hospital.Narayan Medical College and Hospital(NMCH) got the approval to start MBBS programme from 2008-09 academic year. After recommendation by the Medical Council of India (MCI), the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare approved MBBS programme for 100 seats NMCH will always strive to scale new parameters in the field of health education and research. The beginning has been made over 25 acre of land that houses the Medical College building and a 500 beded hospital which offers the best medical care and attention to each and every category of patients and provides the world class health care services by experienced doctors and health professionals.
Lt. Deo Narayan Singh and Lt. Mangla Devi Parents of Sri Gopal Narayan Singh had a dream for a hospital in their village to take care of badly needed health needs of deprived people of Rohtas District of Bihar. Keeping their dream in mind Shri Gopal Narayan Singh formed a trust by the name of Deo Mangal Memorial Trust. Under his guidance the Trust open a charitable hospital by the name of Narayan Chkitsalaya with the sole aim of catering to health care need of poorest section of the society. The hospital has catchment area of Rohtas, Kaimur, Aurangabad and Bhojpur in Bihar and Garwah and Palamu in Jharkhand.
Slowly and steadily the hospital became very popular in masses and it was decided to convert the hospital in a medical college by the name of Narayan Medical College & Hospital, to give better services and do research work. It also provided opportunity for higher education which was badly lacking in this part of the world. It also gave immense direct and indirect employment to the local masses.
Narayan Medical College and Hospital, Jamuhar (Rohtas) is located on old GT Road between Sasaram and Dehri-on-sone at an equidistance of 8 Kms. It has a sprawling campus of 25 acres with full fledge Medical College and Hospital. The institution has been permitted by the Medical Council of India for intake of 100 students each year. It has well equipped all teaching departments with well qualified teaching faculties and hospital having more than 500 beds.
Narayan Medical College has always being considerate about the healing and the very theme “Hamara Sapna Swasth Bharat Ho Apna” with the philosophy of making disease free INDIA by not only treating patient in our hospital but also graduating 100 doctors every year who will spread all across India to make India healthy.
Fully running OPD having computerized registration system gets large patient inflow per day. The hospital is fully equipped with all modern instruments and OPD is functioning with General Medicine, General Surgery, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Orthopedics, Critical Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Pediatrics, Anaesthology, Community Medicine, Neuro Medicine, Dermatology etc. Hospital is also functional with Ambulance Service and Blood Bank Services, 24hrs OT facilities and a fully equipped 24 hours Emergency unit. The hospital has its own Ambulance and Transportation services to cater the needs of patient and students. Pharmacy is open 24 Hrs. It has fully equipped and functional ICUs to take care critically ill patients.
Narayan Medical College & Hospital has 500 beds hospital with all diagnostic facilities like Pathology, Radiology, Digital X-Ray, USG, Endoscopy, Spiral CT Scan, etc. Hospital has dedicated OT complex with 10 well equipped operation theatres having equipment for laparoscopy surgery. All department viz Surgery, Eye, ENT, Gyane, Ortho etc. has their separate well equipped operation theatres. 24 Hrs Emergency services are available in the hospital which is of great help to the local masses.
The Institute has its huge residential campus with accommodation for faculty members and residents. There are separate hostel for boys are girls. The residential complex also includes accommodation for the non-teaching staffs. The college has adequate facilities for recreation and playing ground with the sports material for the students. Both indoor as well as outdoor sport facilities are available.

The first batch of undergraduate medical students was admitted to the Institute in the year 2008 in the M.B.B.S Course. Currently there are three batches which are studying in the college.
The undergraduate curriculum is constantly reviewed at College Council levels and the required changes in the curriculum are brought about in order to evolve a pattern which is the most suitable for the Indian needs and conditions fully abiding by MCI norms.
The undergraduate medical students get sufficient impetus for high quality of education from highly competent faculty at each level.

Infrastructure
Narayan Medical College Campus is spread over more than 20 acre of land and consists of Administrative Building, Academic Block, Hospital Building, Separate Hostel for Boys and Girls and Residential Block for doctors nurses and staff with round the clock water and electric supply. Campus also have playground to host number of outdoor games and recreation facilities.
Lecture Theatres | There are 2 nos. of AC Lecture Theatres of 125 seating capacity, 1 of 250 capacities in college & 1 of 150 seating capacity in hospital. |
Demonstration Room | One demo room of 50 seats in each pre and para-clinical departments. Each clinical department has one demo room of 30 seats in OPD and one of 25 seats in indoor area. |
Common Room | Two common rooms, one for boys students and one for girls students of 100 sq mtrs each with attached toilet. |
Laboratories | Each pre and para clinical department has a student’s laboratory and separate research laboratory along with central research laboratory as per MCI standard |
Library | Fully air conditioned library of 1600 sq mtrs is established on 2nd floor of the college building having 7321 latest edition text and reference books and 108 journals among which 78 are of Indian publication and 30 of foreign publication. It has seating capacity of 200 students at a time in two readings room. A separate staff reading room of 20 seating capacity is there for tutors and faculty members. A separate journal and new arrival display room is there. This library is equipped with facility of Medlar and e- library. |
Skill Laboratory | Recently a fine skill lab is created at 2nd floor of college building for preparation of manicure and models. |
Computer Laboratory | A computer lab is situated at 2nd floor of college building for students to make them aware of computer language, software and hardware and there operations. |
Multipurpose Hall | This college has an 800 sq mtrs multipurpose hall having seating capacity of 500 people at a time. It is equipped with audio- visual aids and LCD projector. This hall is used as auditorium or examination hall at the time of examination. |
Details of Hospital Infrastructure | |
Hospital: | Narayan Medical college hospital has 550 Bed. The distribution of bed is as follows:- Gen Medicine – 120, Paediatrics – 60, TB & Chest – 20, Skin & VD – 10, Psychiatry – 10, Gen Surgery – 120, Orthopaedics – 60, Ophthalmology – 20, ENT – 20, Obstetrics – 30 & Gynaecology – 30. Hospital has 24 hours Emergency facility having 20 beds and all modern amenities to handle emergency. Hospital has well equipped 10nos. Operation Theatres apart from labour rooms, clean OTs & septic OT in Obstetrics & Gynaecology Department. ICU complex houses modern ICU facilities having more than 35 ICU beds of various departments. Hospital also has 24 hours running pathology. The radiology department is operational round the clock and has 6 mobile X-rays, 2 nos 300mA X-rays, 2 nos. 500mA X-rays, 1 no 800mA X-ray, 3 nos. Ultrasound, 1 nos Colour Doppler, C T Scan etc. Hospital houses Blood Bank in its new block. Hospital also runs Ambulance services and provides bus transportation facility to its OPD patients. |
Details of Residential & Catering Infrastructures | |
a. Doctors & Staff Quarters | There are 4 block for doctors and 2 blocks for staff are erected in the college campus with round the clock water and electric facilities. |
b. Hostels with Mess facilities For UG students | 3 Hostels are situated in the campus, one for Boys of 180 seats, one for girls of 200 seats and one for intern of 100 seats. All has their separate Mess, common room, sick room, guest room, recreation room, study rooms and adequate toilets. All hostels are secured round the clock by guard from SIS security agency. |
c. Cafeteria/canteens | College has two canteens for faculty and students situated in separate building. Apart from that one cafeteria is established in college building for the students and visitors. |
